Fire in Tianjin Tower, 10 Dead
A fire in a residential high-rise in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin has claimed 10 lives, The Beijing News reported Friday.
The blaze broke out on the building’s 38th floor at around 4 a.m. Friday, and the fire brigade and district government rushed to the scene, according to a post on the Hexi District government’s Weibo microblog. The post at 8:52 a.m. said the fire had been extinguished.
As of 12:03 p.m. Friday, 10 people have died and five others are receiving treatment for minor injuries.
Investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, and one person has been taken into custody.
