Yang Zhiming is obsessed with delivering a magical experience to his audience. He’s also a Ph.D. student at the Beijing Institute of Technology. “From my perspective, magic and science are connected. All unknown sciences seemed like magic before they were understood.” For Yang, there is little difference between the two.

David Copperfield is Yang Zhiming’s idol. Copperfield’s show “Flying in the Air” left a big impression on him. “No Chinese magician can do tricks like David Copperfield. My dream is to do groundbreaking magic tricks in one of the great theaters in China.”

“During my Ph.D. I’ve learned not only information, but also a scientific way of thinking.” To Yang, there is no disconnect — he firmly believes that practicing magic can expand his logical thinking.
